Once characterized by rice paddies, agricultural fields and farmer housing, the site, on the outskirts of Hangzhou, China, is rapidly transforming due to the construction of a new 10,000 student campus for the China Academy of Art (CAA). The proposal is a multi-purpose neighborhood on a large parcel adjacent to the CAA, developed through iterations as a test case for the school, exploring urbanistic opportunities opened by the presence of the institution, with its students, graduates, teachers, artists and designers.
